I have been dancing for my whole life, but I have been taking lessons for a couple of years. This year I tried out for the Mini’s competition team, and I made the Diamond competition team, which is the next team up! I felt so so crazy I wanted to dance!
Last week I had my first performance. After practicing two times a week all season, my team was chosen to perform at the halftime of the boys basketball game at Rockwell Charter High School on Friday, February 6th, 2009.
I had been really sick for over a week with a cold and ‘no voice’! But there was no way I was going to miss my performance, I was so nervous, but once I got out on the floor, I was laughing so hard because I was having so much fun.
To my surprise, when I got there, some of my best friends and their families were there to watch me. That was SO fun!
The game was supposed to start at about 5:00 pm, but it was all late, and so I didn’t dance until about 7:00 pm. While we waiting, we practiced our dance which was a good thing because my dance was so late, my friends had to leave, so at least they got to see my practice.
Here is Misty (my teacher) telling us to get ready.
Mom took pictures of me while I was dancing. Here are some of them. When we are all in a row, I am in the front, and in the middle!
Here I am doing the splits on the left leg and on the right leg!
This is me on the very right side stretching.
When I perform, I get to wear make-up, which makes me feel like I’m older! Mom and Hunny say it makes me LOOK older too!
If you want to see a video of my dance, mom taped it for me since my dad was at drills at HAFB, so he didn’t get to come. Have fun watching!
I REALLY LOVE DANCING, AND PERFORMING IN FRONT OF ALL THOSE PEOPLE WAS SO COOL. I LOVED IT! I FEEL LIKE I’M DOING WHAT I’VE ALWAYS DREAMED ABOUT DOING WHEN I DANCE.
